Eye Examinations
The purpose of the eye examination is to check the health and function of your eyes and to verify your optical prescription. Examinations are conducted in our spacious, superbly equipped consulting rooms and will include:
- Taking detailed notes on your ocular and relevant medical history and of any complaints or queries.
- Ascertaining your spectacle prescription and verifying the level of vision you achieve with it.
- Various tests to check how well your eyes work together (binocular vision), checking:
- Pupil reactions
- Eye movements
- Field of vision
- Detailed examination of the eye externally and internally (which may involve dilating the pupil with drops).
- Computerised examination of the sensitivity of your central visual field.
- Recording eye pressures.
Retinal Photography. (4, 5, and 6 are all especially relevant to the detection of glaucoma).
A discussion on the findings of the examination and advice on the most appropriate type of visual correction. You will be advised on when you should have your next examination. This will then be entered into our reminder system.
