Sunglasses are important and very fashionable forms of eye protectors. In recent years this protective role has become much enhanced due to our greatly increased exposure to the sun via foreign holidays, sport and leisure activities and a significant reduction of the Ultra-Violet ( U/V ) ray, filtering capacity of the ozone layer.
Whilst many of us are aware that excessive exposure to the sun gives an increased risk of skin cancer we are less aware that it will cause more and earlier onset of cataracts and the even more serious, Age Related Macula Degeneration.
